Overview

At Marqeta, I was responsible for expanding customer programs across all fintech verticals including On Demand Delivery, Expense, Buy Now Pay Later, and many more. A great example of my impact here was $540M in annual client revenue for Marqeta’s customer DoorDash.

Objective

Create a compelling business case that would pass all regulatory constraints and achieve bank-partner approval. Sounds easy right?

In-Action

As a financial technology company, Marqeta, it's customers, and external bank partners are highly regulated. This means that every program change is highly scrutinized and must be rigorously vetted. To meet this need, I created a vetting system allowing Marqeta to catch regulatory issues, while remaining agile. In the case of DoorDash I did the following:

  • Defined DoorDash’s business model

  • Pulled transaction and decline reports to support case for expansion

  • Wrote a compelling narrative for increasing DoorDash’s spending limits

  • Presented to internal "vetting group" made up of Senior Compliance and Legal stakeholders

  • Presented to external bank team
